ARRANGING A FUNERAL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Arranging a Funeral During the Covid-19 Pandemic

A NOTE FROM HYDE-CHAMBERS FUNERAL DIRECTORS

We are taking every step possible to ensure that all funeral services go ahead while ensuring the health and safety of all our clients, staff and the community as a whole and the dignity of the deceased people we care for, are maintained at all times.

Please contact us on 01284 769200 where we can assist you accordingly.
CAN I STILL ARRANGE A FUNERAL?
Yes, we are currently still arranging funerals and we are still available 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Funerals can still be arranged in person at our funeral home, but making an appointment is still preferred, this way we can make sure social distancing can be in place, maximum privacy and attention can be given, contact us on 01284 769200 to do so. We ask if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus, you kindly do not visit our premises or attend a funeral service.

If you are self-isolating or prefer to do so, we can arrange funerals remotely, this can be done via telephone, email skype or any platform you may wish. For the safety of everyone, we are actively encouraging this for all funeral arrangements where possible please.

FUNERAL SERVICES
Although funeral services are still taking place at this time, there have been restrictions put in place as to what services can be provided.
Crematoria and burial grounds at this time are still allowing attended funeral services to go ahead but please check how many are allowed to attend as this will vary. West Suffolk Crematorium are currently allowing 30 mourners to attend a service in the smaller Abbey Chapel and 40 mourners in the larger St Edmunds Chapel, with additional space outside if required.
Social distancing should still be adhered to, and all facilities are offering hand washing facilities/hand sanitiser on entry and exit. Again, we would ask in the first instance that you call us on 01284 769200.
We can offer live webcasting and/or recordings of the service for those who either are unable or cannot attend the funeral. Please ask us for further details.

REGISTERING A DEATH
All face-to-face appointments at the registration office have been postponed. Hospitals and GPs are sending the MCCD (Medical Certificate of the Cause of Death) direct to the registrar and families will then be required to complete a pre-registration online or over the telephone. All death registrations will take place remotely via telephone with no exceptions. We can advise and assist you with this process and liaise directly with the registrar and bereavement services on your behalf.
CAN I STILL VISIT A LOVED ONE?
You can still come and visit your loved one at our premises, this would be arranged by appointment only.
We also ask you not to attend our premises if you are self-isolating or have any symptoms of Coronavirus.

CAN THE FUNERAL SERVICE BE DELAYED?
Local authority and central government guidelines are changing daily and at this stage we are unsure of how long these restrictions will be in place. It would be our advice that all funerals should take place rather than delaying them indefinitely. While it is likely that this would not be how you or your loved one had planned the funeral to be carried out, we will endeavour to make it as personal and unique as we possibly can. At a later date, when restrictions have been lifted, we will do everything we can to assist you in arranging a memorial service or celebration of life.
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO KEEP PEOPLE SAFE
As a company we have a responsibility to the families we assist, our staff and families and the community, in doing so we have put in place the following restrictions.
. Face coverings worn in public areas
. Hand Sanitizer on entry
· We are now offering our Limousine hire to families again. A safety screen has been fitted between the driver and passengers. Please contact us for further details on the use of our Limousine.
· We will be limiting the access to our funeral home and any access will be by prior appointment only if possible, please.
· We will continue to maintain the highest level of dignity when caring for your loved one.
